4

  1. Play the radio with the volume at mid range.
  2. Connect a DMM (set to measure AC voltage) by backprobing between these terminals at the low frequency audio amplifier, based on the inoperative speaker:
  3. • Left Front Speaker: C2/A11 and C2/A12
    • Right Front Speaker: C2/A7 and C2/A8
    • Left Rear Speaker: C1/B and C1/G

  1. Turn the radio off.
  2. Turn the ignition switch off.
  3. Disconnect the low frequency audio amplifier connectors C1 and C2.
  4. Using a DMM, verify the resistance at low frequency audio amplifier harness connector terminals, based on the inoperative speaker:
  5. • Left Front Speaker: C2/A11 and C2/A12: 2.6ohms
    • Right Front Speaker: C2/A7 and C2/A8: 2.6ohms
    • Left Rear Speaker: C1/B and C1/G: 4ohms
    • Right Rear Speaker: C2/A9 and C2/A10: 4ohms
    • Left Rear Speaker (Sub-Woofer): C1/C and C1/F: 2.5ohms
    • Right Rear Speaker (Sub-Woofer): C1/D and C1/E: 2.5ohms

Is the resistance measured same as the specified values shown above?

Test for a short to B+ or short to ground in these circuits, based on the inoperative speaker:

    • Left Front Speaker: circuits 118 and 201
    • Right Front Speaker: circuits 117 and 200
    • Left Rear Speaker: circuits 116 and 199
    • Right Rear Speaker: circuits 46 and 115
    • Left Rear Speaker (Sub-Woofer): circuits 346 and 1794
    • Right Rear Speaker (Sub-Woofer): circuits 315 and 1795.

Did you find a short to B+ or short to ground in any of the inoperative speaker circuits?
