Use a digital multimeter (DMM) in order to backprobe across 1 of the following power mirror switch terminals and ground:

    • Terminal E (Oldsmobile)
    • Terminal H (Buick)
    • Terminal A (Pontiac)

Does the voltage measure within the specified range?

10-15 V

Go to Step 3

Use a DMM in order to backprobe across the following appropriate power mirror switch terminals:

    • Terminal E and terminal D (Oldsmobile)
    • Terminal H and terminal A (Buick and Pontiac)

Does the voltage measure within the specified range?

10-15 V

Go to Step 4

Replace the power mirror switch.

Refer to one of the following procedures:

Is the repair complete?

Repair the open or short to ground in CKT 640 (ORN).

Did you perform the Memory Mirror System Check?

  1. Set the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Ground the memory seat diagnostic connector.
  3. • The connector may be taped up into the body harness.
    • The module beeps once in order to acknowledge entrance into the mode 1 diagnostics.
    • Refer to Memory Seat Operation in Seats for a detailed explanation of the memory seat/mirror module diagnostic modes.
  4. Operate the power mirror switch in all directions. (The module beeps once for each received switch input.)
  5. Any time a switch is operated and the module does not beep, the module did not receive an input from that switch.

Were there any switch operations where the memory seat/mirror module beeped?

  1. Disconnect the power mirror switch connector.
  2. Measure the voltage to ground from the power mirror switch connector terminal E.

Does the voltage measure within the specified range?

10-15 V

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 7

Measure the voltage between the following power mirror switch connector terminals:

    • Terminal E
    • Terminal D

Does the voltage measure within the specified range?

10-15 V

Go to Step 5

Test the following circuits for an open:

    • CKT 1516 (LT BLU) left
    • CKT 1831 (GRY) right

Is CKT 1516 or CKT 1831 OK?

Replace the power mirror switch.

    • CKT 1516 (LT BLU)
