Did you perform the Power Mirror System Check?

  1. Use a digital multimeter (DMM) in order to backprobe across the following appropriate power mirror switch terminals:
  2. • Oldsmobile LH: terminal F (WHT) and terminal H (LT BLU)
    • Oldsmobile RH: terminal C (GRY) and terminal B (RED/WHT)
    • Buick LH: terminal B (LT BLU) and terminal D (WHT)
    • Buick RH: terminal B (LT BLU) and terminal G (RED/WHT)
    • Pontiac LH: terminal B (WHT) and terminal C (LT BLU)
    • Pontiac RH: terminal F (GRY) and terminal G (RED/WHT)
  3. Place the mirror select switch in the position in order to operate the appropriate mirror.
  4. Operate the power mirror switch LEFT.
  5. Operate the power mirror switch RIGHT.

Does the voltage measure within the specified range for both cases?

10-15 V

  1. Use a DMM in order to backprobe across the following appropriate outside rear view mirror terminals:
  2. • Oldsmobile LH: terminal F (WHT) and terminal H (LT BLU)
    • Oldsmobile RH: terminal F (RED/WHT) and terminal H (GRY)
    • Buick LH: terminal F (WHT) and terminal H (LT BLU)
    • Buick RH: terminal F (RED/WHT) and terminal H (LT BLU)
    • Pontiac LH: terminal F (WHT) and terminal H (LT BLU)
    • Pontiac RH: terminal F (RED/WHT) and terminal H (GRY)
  3. Place the mirror select switch in the position in order to operate the appropriate mirror.
  4. Operate the power mirror switch LEFT.
  5. Operate the power mirror switch RIGHT.

Does the voltage measure within the specified range for both cases?

10-15 V

Replace the power mirror switch.

Replace the appropriate outside rear view mirror.

Perform the following procedures for the appropriate components:

  1. LH outside rear view mirror:
  2. • Test for an open or short to ground in CKT 81 (WHT).
    • Test for an open or short to ground in CKT 82 (LT BLU).
  3. RH outside rear view mirror:
  4. • Test for an open or short to ground in CKT 881 (RED/WHT).
    • Test for an open or short to ground in CKT 90 (GRY) (Oldsmobile and Pontiac) or CKT 82 (LT BLU) (Buick).

Is there an open or short to ground in the suspect circuit?

Repair the open or short to ground in one of the following circuits:

    • CKT 81 (WHT)
    • CKT 82 (LT BLU)
    • CKT 881 (RED/WHT)
    • CKT 90 (GRY)
    • CKT 82 (LT BLU)

  1. Set the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Ground the memory seat diagnostic connector.
  3. • The connector may be taped up into the body harness.
    • The module beeps once in order to acknowledge entrance into the mode 1 diagnostics.
    • Refer to Memory Seat Operation in Seats for a detailed explanation of the memory seat/mirror module diagnostic modes.
  4. Operate the power mirror switch in all directions. (The module beeps once for each received switch input.)
  5. Any time a switch is operated and the module does not beep, the module did not receive an input from that switch.

Is there any switch operations where the memory seat/mirror module beeped?

Test the following circuits for an open:

    • CKT 81 (WHT) (left)
    • CKT 881 (RED/WHT) (right)

Is CKT 81 or CKT 881 OK?

Test the following circuits for an open between the mirror and S506 (left) or S600 (right):

    • CKT 82 (LT BLU) (left)
    • CKT 90 (GRY) (right)

Is CKT 82 or CKT 90 OK?

Replace the appropriate outside rear view mirror.

Refer to Power Mirror Replacement . Is the repair complete?

Test the following circuits for an open:

    • CKT 1512 (WHT) (left)
    • CKT 1513 (RED/WHT) (right)

Is CKT 1512 or CKT 1513 OK?

Repair the open in one of the following circuits:

    • CKT 81 (WHT)
    • CKT 881 (RED/WHT)

    • CKT 82 (LT BLU)
    • CKT 90 (GRY)

    • CKT 1512 (WHT)
    • CKT 1513 (RED/WHT)
