Did you perform the Memory Mirror System Check?

  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  2. Ground the memory seat diagnostic connector.
    3. • The connector may be taped up into the body harness.
    • Ensure that the module beeps once in order to acknowledge entrance into Mode 1 diagnostics.
    • Refer to Memory Seat Operation in Seats for a detailed explanation of the memory seat/mirror module diagnostic modes.
  3. Operate the power mirror switch in all directions.
  4. Ensure that the module beeps once for each switch input that it receives because anytime a switch is operated and the module does not beep, the module did not receive an input from that switch.

Test CKT 88 (YEL) (LH) or CKT 1498 (PPL/WHT) (RH) for an open.

Is CKT 88 or CKT 1498 OK?

Test CKT 82 (LT BLU) (LH) or CKT 90 (GRY) (RH) for an open between the mirror and S506 (LH) or S600 (RH).

Is CKT 82 or CKT 90 OK?

Replace the appropriate outside rear view mirror.

Refer to Power Mirror Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Test CKT 1517 (YEL) (LH) or CKT 1832 (BRN/WHT) (RH) for an open.

Is CKT 1517 or CKT 1832 OK?

Replace the power mirror switch.

Repair the open in one of the following circuits:

    • CKT 88 (YEL)
    • CKT 1498 (PPL/WHT)

Repair the open in one of the following circuits:

    • CKT 82 (LT BLU)
    • CKT 90 (GRY)

    • CKT 1517 (YEL)
    • CKT 1832 (BRN/WHT)

  1. Backprobe across the appropriate power mirror switch terminals with a digital multimeter (DMM):
    2. • Oldsmobile LH: terminal G (YEL) and terminal H (LT BLU).
    • Oldsmobile RH: terminal C (GRY) and terminal A (BRN/WHT).
    • Buick LH: terminal C (YEL) and terminal E (LT GRN).
    • Buick RH: terminal C (YEL) and terminal F (PPL/WHT).
    • Pontiac LH: terminal D (YEL) and terminal C (LT BLU).
    • Pontiac RH: terminal F (GRY) and terminal E (BRN/WHT).
  2. Place the mirror select switch in the position to operate the appropriate mirror.
  3. Operate the power mirror switch UP.
  4. Operate the power mirror switch DOWN.

Does the voltage measure within the specified range?

10-15 V

  1. Backprobe across the appropriate outside rear view mirror terminals with a DMM:
    2. • Oldsmobile LH: terminal A (YEL) and terminal C (LT BLU).
    • Oldsmobile RH: terminal C (GRY) and terminal A (BRN/WHT).
    • Buick LH: terminal A (YEL) and terminal C (LT GRN).
    • Buick RH: terminal A (YEL) and terminal C (PPL/WHT).
    • Pontiac LH: terminal A (YEL) and terminal H (LT BLU).
    • Pontiac RH: terminal H (GRY) and terminal A (BRN/WHT).
  2. Place the mirror select switch in the position to operate the appropriate mirror.
  3. Operate the power mirror switch UP.
  4. Operate the power mirror switch DOWN.

Does the voltage measure within the specified range?

10-15 V

Test the LH outside rear view mirror circuits for an open:

    • CKT 88 (YEL)
    • CKT 82 (LT BLU) (Oldsmobile and Pontiac)
    • CKT 89 (LT GRN) (Buick)

Are the circuits OK?

Repair the open in one of the following circuits:

    • CKT 88 (YEL)
    • CKT 82 (LT BLU) (Oldsmobile and Pontiac)
    • CKT 89 (LT GRN) (Buick)

Repair the open in one of the RH outside rear view mirror circuits:

    • CKT 1498 (BRN/WHT) (Oldsmobile and Pontiac)
    • CKT 88 (YEL) (Buick)
    • CKT 90 (GRY) (Oldsmobile and Pontiac)
    • CKT 889 (PPL/WHT) (Buick)
