Inspect the tape player through the tape door for an obstruction.

  1. Inspect and clean all moving parts and the tape head.
  2. Use a cleaning cassette. Refer to Cassette Player Care and Cleaning .

Does the cassette tape play OK?

Perform a motor speed test with the diagnostic test tape from the J 39916-A . Refer to Speakers General Diagnosis .

Is the motor speed OK?

  1. Remove the obstruction.
  2. Important: Improper removal may damage tape player.

  3. Inspect and clean all moving parts and the tape head.
  4. Use the cleaning cassette. Refer to Cassette Player Care and Cleaning .
  5. Use the diagnostic test tape from J 39916-A . Refer to Speakers General Diagnosis .

Does the test tape operate correctly?
