Removal Procedure

    Caution: Disconnect the power window switch when working inside the driver door. When operated, the Express Up/Down Feature allows the door window to move very quickly, without stopping, which could cause personal injury.

  1. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  2. Remove the door control module. Refer to Door Control Module Replacement - Front .
  3. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Front Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  4. Remove the speaker assembly. Refer to Radio Front Side Door Lower Speaker Replacement in Entertainment.
  5. Remove the window. Refer to Front Side Door Window Replacement .
  6. Disconnect the lock rod from the outside door handle.
  7. Disconnect the outside handle rod.
  8. Remove the 3 fasteners from the door latch assembly.

  10. Remove the 2 upper fasteners (1) from the module.
  11. Loosen the remaining fasteners (2).

  13. Remove the module assembly.

  15. Disconnect the inside door handle and lock rods from the door latch by releasing the retainers (1, 2).

  17. Lift the door latch off the retainer (1).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the door latch onto the retainer (1).

  2. Object Number: 539872  Size: SH
  3. Install the inside door handle and lock rods to the door latch.
  4. Fasten the inside door handle and lock rods to the latch by closing the clips (1, 2).

  5. Object Number: 539884  Size: SH
  6. Install the outside door handle rod (2) on to the retainer (1) for ease of installation.
  7. Connect the electrical connectors to the door latch.

  9. Start the fasteners (2) in the module.

  11. Install the module into the door.

  13. Align the fasteners (2) installed in the module with the keyhole slots in the door.
  14. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  15. Install the remaining fasteners (1).
  16. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  17. Install the 3 fasteners to the latch assembly.
  18. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  19. Install the handle and lock rods to the outside door handle.
  20. Install the window. Refer to Front Side Door Window Replacement .
  21. Install the speaker assembly. Refer to Radio Front Side Door Lower Speaker Replacement in Entertainment.
  22. Install the trim panel bracket.
  23. Install the water deflector. Refer to Front Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  24. Install the door control module. Refer to Door Control Module Replacement - Front .
  25. Install the door trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
