  1. Start with the ignition switch in the LOCK position.
  2. Make sure the video screen is in the up (stored) position.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN or ACC position.
  4. Turn the radio on.

The radio plays through the front and rear speakers.

Lower the video screen (viewing position).

    • The video screen backlight turns on (no image).
    • The rear speakers mute.
    • The Auxiliary Video Module (AVM) power indicator turns on.

Important: If the AVM power indicator illuminates in red instead of green, the AVM has detected that the system operating temperature is out-of-range: below 0°C (32°F) or above 60°C (140°F). The AVM will disable (turn off) the video screen until the system temperature is within operating range.

Turn on the Video Cassette Player (VCP).

The VCP turns on.

Important: If the DEW L.E.D. is flashing on the VCP, then the VCP is in a dew detected mode and will not operate until the VCP has dried sufficiently.

  1. Turn the radio off.
  2. Make sure the Rear Seat Audio (RSA) control is also off.
  3. Insert a pre-recorded VHS tape in the VCP.
  4. Press play on the VCP (Wait a few seconds for the VCP to start playing).
  5. Select VCP mode on the Auxiliary Video Module (AVM).
  6. Adjust volume on the AVM.
    • The video screen plays video image from the VCP.
    • The video audio plays through the rear speakers.
    • Headphones connected to the Second Seat Audio and/or Third Seat Audio (SSA/TSA) set in AUD or VCP mode play audio from the VCP.

  1. While the VCP is playing, turn the radio on.
  2. Connect headphones into the Second Seat Audio (SSA) or Third Seat Audio (TSA) control.
  3. Select VCP mode on the SSA or TSA and adjust volume.
    • The rear speakers mute.
    • The front speakers play radio audio.
    • The video audio plays through the SSA and TSA controls (headphones).

  1. Turn the Rear Seat Audio (RSA) control on.
  2. Select AUD mode on the Second Seat Audio (SSA) or Third Seat Audio (TSA) control.

Radio audio selected at the RSA is available at the SSA/TSA controls (headphones).

Connect headphones into the Rear Seat Audio (RSA) control and adjust volume.

Headphones connected to the RSA play radio audio that has been selected at the RSA.

  1. Press stop on the VCP.
  2. Place the video screen in the up (stored) position.
  3. Select AUD on the Second Seat Audio (SSA) or Third Seat Audio (TSA) control.
    • The video screen turns blue (backlighting).
    • The rear speakers remain muted (because the Rear Seat Audio Control (RSA) is on).
    • Headphones connected to the RSA play radio audio that has been selected at the RSA.
    • Headphones connected to the SSA/TSA in set in AUD mode play radio audio that has been selected at the RSA.

Turn off the Rear Seat Audio (RSA) control.

If the radio is on, radio audio plays on front and rear speakers.

While observing the Video Cassette Player (VCP), turn the ignition switch off.

  1. The VCP turns off at the same time the ignition switch is turned off.
  2. After a couple of seconds, the cassette in indicator lamp in the VCP turns on again, for about 12 seconds; then the VCP turns off.

With the ignition switch off, place the video screen in the down (viewing) position.

The video screen remains off.

  1. Turn the ignition switch on.
  2. Select AUX mode on the Auxiliary Video Module (AVM).
  3. Connect auxiliary source of video and audio, such as a video camera or video game with RCA-style video/audio jacks, into the AUX inputs of the AVM.
  4. Play the external video/audio source.
  5. Make sure the radio remains off.
    • The video screen plays image coming from the external auxiliary source.
    • The rear speakers play sound from the external auxiliary source.
    • Headphones connected to the Second Seat Audio or Third Seat Audio (SSA/TSA) in AUD or VCP mode play audio from the external auxiliary source.

  1. While the auxiliary source is playing, turn the radio on.
  2. Connect headphones into the Second Seat Audio (SSA) or Third Seat Audio (TSA) control.
  3. Select VCP mode on the SSA or TSA control and adjust volume.
    • The rear speakers mute.
    • The front speakers play radio audio.
    • The auxiliary source audio plays through the SSA and TSA controls (headphones).

Auxiliary Inputs Inoperative

  1. Turn the headlamp and I/P lamp dimmer switch to the PARK or HEAD position.
  2. Set the dimmer control knob to maximum intensity.
  3. Observe the Auxiliary Video Module (AVM), Rear Seat Audio (RSA), Second Seat Audio (SSA), and Third Seat Audio (TSA) controls.

The AVM, RSA, SSA and TSA controls illuminate when the headlamp and I/P lamp dimmer switch is in the PARK or HEAD position.
