Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the front door trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  2. Remove the front door water deflector. Refer to Front Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  3. Remove the front door trim panel energy absorber pad (coupe only). Refer to Trim Panel Energy Absorber Pad - Front Door .

    4. Object Number: 315751 Size: MH
  4. Remove the inside door handle rods from the inside door handle.
  5. Remove the clip securing the inside handle rods to the front door.

    6. Object Number: 293875 Size: SH
  6. Use side cutters in order to cut off the outside handle rod-to-lock clip from the lock.
  7. Unscrew the remainder of the clip from the outside door handle rod.
  8. Discard the clip.

    9. Object Number: 315760 Size: SH
  9. Remove the screws (1,2,3) securing the lock to the front door.
  10. Remove the front door lock from the front door with the inside door handle rods attached to the lock.

  11. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  12. Remove the front door window guides from the lock.
  13. Remove the inside door handle rods from the lock.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 315755 Size: MH
  1. Install the inside door handle rods to the lock.
  2. Install the front door window guides to the lock assembly.
  3. Connect the electrical connectors.
  4. Install the door lock in position through the access hole in the front door inner panel.

    5. Object Number: 315760 Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the door lock screws in the proper fastener tightening sequence. First install the top screw (1), then the bottom (2) and lastly the middle screw (3).

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the door lock screws to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  6. Install a new outside handle rod-to-lock clip onto the door lock lever.
  7. Position the outside door handle rod in the clip in order to eliminate any free play in the outside door handle.
  8. Install the clip cover closed over the threaded outside door handle rod.

  9. Install the clip to the inside handle rods.
  10. Install the inside handle rods to the handle.
  11. Install the front door water deflector. Refer to Front Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  12. Install the front door energy absorber pad. Refer to Trim Panel Energy Absorber Pad - Front Door .
  13. Install the front door rim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  14. Inspect the door lock system for proper operation.
