Removal Procedure

Important: Always maintain cleanliness when servicing fuel system components.


    Object Number: 50611  Size: SH
  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  2. Remove the fuel sender assembly. Refer to Fuel Sender Assembly Replacement .
  3. Note the position of the strainer (3) for future reference.

  4. Object Number: 54511  Size: SH
  5. Support the reservoir with one hand, and grasp the strainer with the other hand.
  6. Use a screwdriver in order to pry the strainer ferrule from the reservoir.
  7. Discard the strainer.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 50636  Size: SH
  1. Install the new strainer  4) to the reservoir.
  2. Support the reservoir with one hand, and grasp the strainer with the other hand by twisting the strainer into position.
  3. Install the fuel sender assembly. Refer to Fuel Sender Assembly Replacement .
  4. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  5. Inspect for fuel leaks.
  6. 5.1. Turn ON the ignition, for 2 seconds.
    5.2. Turn OFF the ignition, for 10 seconds.
    5.3. Turn ON the ignition.
    5.4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
