Rear Seat Back Latch Replacement Sedan

1. Remove the rear seat back. Refer to Rear Seat Back Replacement.
2. Remove the rear set back folding. Refer to Rear Split Folding Seat Back Replacement.



3. Detach seat back cover and lift to expose latch assembly (1).



4. Remove the retaining screws (1) attaching the lock actuator to the seat back tray.
5. Remove the lock actuator from the seat back tray.



6. Using a suitable screwdriver, depress the tang (1) on the front of the release button.
7. Remove the release button from the rear centre seat back.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.




1. Install the lock actuator onto the seat back tray.

Tighten
Tighten the screws (1) to 2  N·m (18 lb in).

2. Install the rear centre seat back cover. Refer to Rear Split Folding Seat Back Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement in Seats.
3. Install the centre seat back release button, listen for an audible click to confirm fitting.
4. Remove the rear set back folding. Refer to Rear Split Folding Seat Back Replacement in Seats.
5. Install the rear seat back. Refer to Rear Seat Back Replacement in Seats.
6. Operate release button, to ensure correct operation.

Rear Seat Back Latch Replacement Sportwagon

1. Remove the rear seat cushion assembly. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement.
2. Remove the appropriate rear seat back assembly. Refer to Rear Seat Back Cushion Replacement.
3. Remove the appropriate rear seat cover and pad. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement.



4. Remove the seat lock linkage (2) from the linkage retainer clip (1).



5. Remove the seat lock to seat frame retaining bolts (1).
6. Remove the seat lock (2) from the seat frame (3).




Important: Care must be taken not to damage the seat release handle assembly retainers (3).

7. Using a suitable tool detach the seat release handle assembly retainers (3).
8. Remove the seat release handle assembly (1) from the seat frame (2).

Important: Listen for an audible click to confirm correct installation of the seat release handle assembly retainers (3).

1. Install the seat release handle assembly (1) to the seat frame (2).



2. Install the seat lock (2) to the seat frame (3).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

3. Install the seat lock to seat frame retaining bolts (1).

Tighten
Tighten the bolts  to 43  N·m (31 lb ft).




4. Install the seat lock linkage (2) to the retainer clip (1).
5. Attach the linkage retainer clip (1) to the seat lock linkage (2).
6. Install the appropriate rear seat cover and pad. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement.
7. Install the appropriate rear seat back assembly. Refer to Rear Seat Back Cushion Replacement.
8. Install the rear seat cushion assembly. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement.
