Rear Split Folding Seat Back Replacement Sedan

1. Remove the seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement.
2. Remove the rear seat back. Refer to Rear Seat Back Replacement.



3. Remove the four seat back retaining nuts (1) attaching the seat back to the body panel.
4. Operate the seat back release button and remove the seat back.

1. Install the seat back onto the lock striker, listen for an audible click to confirm fitting.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.




2. Install the four seat back retaining nuts (1).

Tighten
Tighten the nuts (1) to 23  N·m (17 lb ft).

3. Install the rear seat back. Refer to Rear Seat Back Replacement in Seats.
4. Install the seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement.

Rear Split Folding Seat Back Replacement Sportwagon

1. Remove the rear seat cushion assembly. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement.
2. Remove the rear split folding seat back bolster. Refer to Rear Split Folding Seat Back Bolster Replacement.
3. Remove the rear compartment floor panel carpet. Refer to Rear Compartment Floor Panel Carpet Replacement
4. Adjust both front seats to the completely forward position.
5. Fold both rear seat backs down.



6. Using a suitable tool detach the pivot retainer plate (1) from the pivot retainer (3) in order to disengage the pivot retainer pins (2) from the pivot retainer mounting (4).
7. Lift the left rear seat back (5) to disengage the pivot retainer (3) from the pivot retainer mounting (4).
8. With the aid of an assistant pull the left rear seat back (5) towards the left rear door opening and remove from the vehicle.

1. With the aid of an assistant install the left rear seat back (3) to the vehicle.
2. Align the left rear seat spindle cavity (2) with the right rear seat spindle (1).




Important: In order to engage the pivot retainer pins (2) to the pivot retainer mounting (4) the left rear seat back (5) must be folded into the upright position.

3. Attach the pivot retainer (3) to the pivot retainer mounting (4).

Important: Listen for an audible click to confirm correct installation of the pivot retainer (3) to the pivot retainer mounting (4).

4. Fold the left rear seat back (5) into the upright position.
5. Install the rear split folding seat back bolster. Refer to Rear Split Folding Seat Back Bolster Replacement.
6. Install the rear seat cushion assembly. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement.

1. Remove the left rear seat back.



2. Remove the centre rear seatbelt anchor to body retaining nut (2) from the centre rear seatbelt anchor (1).



3. Using a suitable tool detach the pivot retainer plate (1) from the pivot retainer (3) in order to disengage the pivot retainer pins (2) from the pivot retainer mounting (4).
4. Lift the right rear seat back (5) to disengage the pivot retainer (3) from the pivot retainer mounting (4).
5. With the aid of an assistant pull the right rear seat back (5) towards the right rear door opening and remove from the vehicle.

1. With the aid of an assistant install the right rear seat back (1) to the vehicle.
2. Align the right rear seat spindle shaft (3) with the spindle shaft mounting (2).




Important: In order to engage the pivot retainer pins (2) to the pivot retainer mounting (4) the right rear seat back (5) must be folded to the upright position.

3. Attach the pivot retainer (3) to the pivot retainer mounting (4).

Important: Listen for an audible click to confirm correct installation of the right rear seat.

4. Fold the right rear seat back  (5) into the upright position.



5. Install the centre rear seatbelt anchor (1) to the vehicle.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

6. Install the centre rear seatbelt anchor to body retaining nut (2) to the centre rear seatbelt anchor (1).

Tighten
Tighten the bolts  to 43  N·m (31 lb ft).

7. Install the left rear seat back.
