Removal Procedure

    Caution: Do not strike or jolt the inflatable restraint front end sensor. Before applying power to the front end sensor make sure that it is securely fastened. Failure to observe the correct installation procedure could cause SIR deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System .

  2. Object Number: 740828  Size: SH
  3. Remove the retainers (2) from hood closeout panel (1).
  4. Remove the closeout panel (1) from the vehicle.

  5. Object Number: 202141  Size: SH
  6. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the wiring harness connector.
  7. Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the sensor (1).
  8. Remove the mounting bolts (2) from the sensor (1).
  9. Remove the sensor (1) from the hood latch support bracket (3).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 202141  Size: SH
  1. Install the discriminating sensor (1) to the hood latch support bracket (3).
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the discriminating sensor bolts (2).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Connect the wiring harness connector to the sensor (1).
  6. Install the CPA to the wiring harness connector.

  8. Install the close out panel (1) to the vehicle.
  9. Install the retainers (2) to the close out panel (1).
  10. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System .
