  1. Turn off the IP dimmer switch.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  3. Remove the BCM PRGRM fuse.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position.
  5. • The BCM sounds the chime a number of times equivalent to the BCM type installed on the vehicle (1, 2, 3, or 4 chimes).
    • Now the BCM has entered the feature customization mode.
  6. To change the automatic door lock operation mode, press and release the lock on either door lock switch. The BCM sounds the chime a number of times equivalent to the automatic door lock operation mode. A transition past mode 4 repeats the sequence starting with mode 1. Refer to Automatic Door Lock System Description for detailed mode information.
  7. To change the locking control mode, press and release the unlock on either door lock switch. The BCM sounds the chime a number of times equivalent to the locking control mode. A transition past mode 4 repeats the sequence starting with mode 1. Refer to Automatic Door Lock System Description for detail mode operation.

Does the BCM change modes as described?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Reinstall the BCM PRGRM fuse.

This action causes the BCM to exit and save the current customization modes.

  1. Close all vehicle doors.
  2. Verify that the IP dimmer switch is set to the OFF position.
  3. Turn on the interior lamps override switch (enabling the interior lights).
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  5. Open, then close all vehicle doors, one door at a time.

Did the courtesy lights turn on with a door open, and turn off with a door closed?

  1. Ensure that all vehicle doors are closed.
  2. Turn the ignition switch from the RUN position to the LOCK position.
  3. While observing the courtesy lights, remove key from the ignition key cylinder.

Did the courtesy lights turn on when removing key from the ignition key cylinder?

The last door lock or sliding door delayed locking is malfunctioning due to a malfunction between the BCM and the door lock ajar switches. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Lighting Systems in Lighting Systems for diagnosis and repair of the interior lights door lock ajar input.

  1. Insert key into the ignition key lock cylinder and turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  2. Lower all vehicle windows.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position and remove key from the ignition key lock cylinder.
  4. Step out of the vehicle.
  5. Verify that all passenger doors are closed (except driver's door).
  6. Press lock on driver's door lock switch. Listen to 3 chimes.
  7. Close the driver's door.
  8. Within 5 seconds, open the left sliding door (if equipped). Press lock on driver's door lock switch. Listen to 3 chimes.
  9. Close the left sliding door (if equipped).
  10. Wait 5 seconds while observing the door locks.
  11. Unlock and open RF door.
  12. Press lock on door lock switch. Listen to 3 chimes.
  13. Close RF door.
  14. Within 5 seconds, open the right sliding door. Press lock on passenger door lock switch. Listen to 3 chimes.
  15. Close the right sliding door.
  16. Wait 5 seconds while observing the door locks.

Upon pressing lock on either door lock switch and no key inserted in the ignition key lock cylinder, all doors lock 5 seconds after last door is closed.

Do the door locks operate as described above?

The last door closed locking is inoperative due to a malfunction between the BCM and the ignition key alarm switch. Refer to Symptoms in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console for diagnosis and repair of the ignition key alarm switch.

  1. Open the driver's door.
  2. Open the right or left (if equipped) sliding door.
  3. Ensure RF door and liftgate door are closed.
  4. Remove key from the ignition key lock cylinder.
  5. Press lock on either door lock switch.
  6. Close the driver's door.
  7. Close sliding door.
  8. Wait 3 seconds while observing the door locks.

Do all doors lock three (+/- 0.3) seconds after closing sliding door?

  1. Set the locking control mode lockout prevention mode to mode 2. Refer to Automatic Door Lock System Description .
  2. Close all vehicle doors.

  1. The lockout override mode is the only inoperative mode.
  2. Set the locking control mode lockout prevention mode to mode 2.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  4. Lower completely down all vehicle windows.
  5. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  6. Open the driver's door.
  7. While observing the door locks, press lock on door lock switch momentarily.
  8. Close the driver's door.
  9. Open the LH sliding door (if equipped).
  10. Press lock on door lock switch momentarily; observe the door locks.
  11. Within 3 seconds, open the RF door and close the LH sliding door (if equipped).
  12. While observing the door locks, press lock on door lock switch momentarily.
  13. Close the RF door.
  14. Open the RH sliding door.
  15. Reaching through the RF window opening, press lock on door lock switch momentarily; observe the door locks.

Doors do not lock when pressing lock on either door lock switch with the key in the ignition key lock cylinder and a door open.

Do the door locks operate as described above?

  1. Open the driver's door.
  2. Fully insert the key in the ignition key lock cylinder.
  3. Leave the ignition switch in the LOCK position.
  4. While observing the door locks, press and hold the driver's door lock switch for three seconds.

All doors lock after holding lock on the LF door lock switch for three seconds, with the key in the ignition.

Do the door locks operate as described above?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Reinstall the connectors and components that were removed.
  3. Remove the BCM PRGRM fuse.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position. (The BCM sounds the chime a number of times equivalent to the BCM type installed on the vehicle).
  5. Turn the ignition switch from the ACC position, to the LOCK position, then back to the ACC position within 1 second. (The BCM sounds any DTCs stored).

Are there any BCM DTCs present?
