Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in the Preface section.

    Caution: Refer to SIR Inflator Module Handling and Storage Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling and SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.

  3. Object Number: 1202160  Size: SH
  4. Remove the inflatable restraint I/P module bracket bolts.

  5. Object Number: 929419  Size: SH
  6. Remove the I/P trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  7. Remove the PSIR wire harness metal edge clips from the I/P trim pad.
  8. Remove the inflatable restraint I/P module nuts.
  9. Remove the inflatable restraint I/P module.
  10. Fully deploy the module before disposal. If the module was replaced under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required retention period. Refer to Inflator Module Handling and Scrapping .

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 929419  Size: SH
  1. Align the inflatable restraint I/P module to the I/P trim pad.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the inflatable restraint I/P module nuts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Route the PSIR wire harness under the locating rib and attach the metal edge clips to the I/P trim pad.
  6. Install the I/P trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

  7. Object Number: 1202160  Size: SH
  8. Install the inflatable restraint I/P module bracket bolts.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  10. Install the I/P compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  11. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling and SIR Disabling and Enabling .
