Removal Procedure

    Caution: This vehicle has energy-absorbing foam blocks for side impact protection. To help avoid personal injury in a collision, foam blocks that are damaged, or removed during repairs must be replaced. Failure to replace foam blocks that are removed can violate federal law.

  1. Remove the rear door trim panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 899785  Size: SH
  3. Using pliers, press the ends of each retaining clip (1) together on the upper energy absorber pad to form a bow.
  4. Pull up to remove the clip.

  5. Remove the pad from the trim panel.

  6. Object Number: 901475  Size: SH
  7. On the lower energy absorber pad, press the retainer (1) outward to free the tab on the absorber.
  8. Lift the absorber and move it forward to free the remaining tabs.
  9. Remove the lower energy absorber pad from the trim panel.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the energy absorbers on the trim panel.

  2. Object Number: 901481  Size: SH
  3. For the lower absorber, slide the rear tabs (1) into the retainers.
  4. Press the side retainer out and insert the remaining tab.

  5. Object Number: 899788  Size: SH
  6. Press the retaining clips (1) down onto the absorber retaining post (2).
  7. Install the rear door trim panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
