J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover

Removal Procedure

  1. Insert a flat-bladed tool at the front edge of the door handle bezel. Pull the bezel away from the door to disengage the retaining clips.

  2. Object Number: 840592  Size: SH
  3. Use a flat-bladed tool to remove the cover plate from the armrest pull handle.

  4. Object Number: 1327076  Size: SH
  5. Using a thin walled socket, remove the screws (1) from the pull handle.

  6. Object Number: 840634  Size: SH
  7. Beginning at the lower rear of the door, use J 38778 to disengage the trim panel from the rear door inner panel.
  8. Lift the trim panel to disengage the channel at the top edge and to clear the door lock button.
  9. If equipped, disconnect the electrical connector for the power window switch.
  10. Remove the rear door trim panel from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 840634  Size: SH
  1. If equipped, connect the electrical connector for the power window switch.
  2. Position the trim panel to the rear door inner panel, verifying that the door handle comes through the bezel.
  3. Install the rear door trim panel pressing until the retainers are fully seated.
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install the door trim retaining screws through the pull handle.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 3.5 N·m (31 lb in).

  7. Install the cover plate to the armrest pull handle. Press firmly until the plate is seated.
