Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 318868  Size: SH
  1. Open the rear compartment.
  2. Place the protective coverings over the adjacent body panels.
  3. Use a grease pencil to mark the hinge to the rear compartment lid for the location at installation.
  4. Disconnect all electrical connectors from the rear compartment lid harness.
  5. Remove the rubber height adjustment bumpers.
  6. Remove the rear compartment lid latch. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Latch Replacement .
  7. Remove the rear spoiler, if equipped. Refer to Rear Spoiler Replacement .

  9. Remove the nuts from the rear compartment lid hinges, with an assistant.
  10. Remove the rear compartment lid with an assistant.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 318869  Size: SH
  1. Install the rubber height adjustment bumpers.
  2. Position the rear compartment lid hinges to the marks on the rear compartment lid with an assistant.
  3. Install the nuts to the rear compartment lid hinges.
  4. Do not torque the nuts until after the lid has been aligned.

    Important: When installing a new compartment lid, use mechanics wire to pull the wiring harness into position.

  5. Install the rear compartment lid wiring harness from the rear compartment lid.

  7. Connect the electrical connectors to the electrical components on the rear compartment lid.
  8. Install the rear compartment lid latch. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Latch Replacement .
  9. Install the rear spoiler, if equipped. Refer to Rear Spoiler Replacement .

  11. Remove the protective coverings.
  12. Adjust the rear compartment lid if required. Using an Allen wrench, adjust the height adjustment bumper at front of the hinge.
  13. Adjust the rear compartment lid if required, for uniform fit.
  14. Adjust the rear compartment height by turning the black rubber bumpers by hand.
  15. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  16. Tighten the nuts to the rear compartment hinges.
  17. Tighten
    Tighten the rear compartment lid hinge nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  18. Close the rear compartment.
