Makes 🢒 Pontiac 🢒 2000 🢒 Grand Prix 🢒 Restraints 🢒 SIR 🢒 Steering Wheel Inflatable Restraint Module Coil Replacement

Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 217461 Size: SH
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System .
  2. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil yellow 2-way wiring harness connector at the base of the steering column.
  3. Disconnect the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil yellow 2-way wiring harness connector.

  4. Remove the upper and lower shrouds. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers - Disassemble - Off Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.
  5. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement .
  6. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.
  7. Remove the wire harness straps from the steering wheel column wire harness.
  8. Remove the retaining ring.
  9. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil from the steering shaft.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 82187 Size: SH
  1. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil to the steering shaft.
  2. Install the retaining ring.
  3. Center the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Coil Centering - Off Vehicle (Column Shift And Floor Shift) in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.
  4. Route the lower coil wire harness along steering column jacket.
  5. Install the wire harness straps to the steering wheel column wire harness.
  6. Install the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.
  7. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement .
  8. Install the upper and lower shrouds. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers - Assemble - Off Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.

    9. Object Number: 217461 Size: SH
  9. Connect the inflatable restraint steering wheel module yellow 2-way wiring harness connector at the base of the steering column.
  10. Install the connector position assurance (CPA) to the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil yellow 2-way wiring harness connector.
  11. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System .
