Fasten Safety Belt Indicator/Chime Inoperative Buick

Did you perform the Audible Warnings System Check?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. For UB3, disconnect the remote indicator bank.
  3. For U23, disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
  4. For U23, measure the resistance from the instrument cluster connector terminal B11 to terminal B6.
  5. For UB3, measure the resistance from the remote indicator bank connector terminal 4 to terminal 3.

Does the resistance measure less than the specified value?

10 ohms

Go to Step 4

Replace the fasten seat belts indicator. Refer to Instrument Cluster Warning Lamp Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.

Is the replacement complete?

Go to Audible Warnings System Check

  1. Turn the ignition switch to RUN.
  2. For U23, measure the voltage from the instrument cluster connector terminal B11 to ground.
  3. For UB3, measure the voltage from the remote indicator bank connector terminal 4 to ground.

Does the measured voltage equal the specified value for approximately 1 minute after you turn the ignition switch to the RUN position?

10-15 V

Inspect CKT 234 (YEL) for an open or short to ground.

Is the circuit OK?

Repair the open or short to ground in CKT 234 (YEL). Refer to Repairing Damaged Wire Insulation in Wiring Systems.

For U23 only, inspect connector C200 terminal D12 for proper terminal contact.

Is the contact OK?

Replace the MALL module. Refer to Multifunction Alarm, Lock and Lighting Module Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

Is the replacement complete?

Inspect CKT 1250 (BLK) for an open.

Is the circuit OK?

Repair the open in CKT 1250 (BLK). Refer to Repairing Damaged Wire Insulation in Wiring Systems.

    • For U23, inspect the instrument cluster connector terminal B6 and terminal B11 for proper terminal contact.
    • For UB3, inspect the information center connector terminal 3 and terminal 4 for proper terminal contact.

Are the contacts OK?

  3. Measure the resistance from the instrument cluster connector C2 terminal E12 to terminal E13.

  2. Measure the voltage from the instrument cluster connector terminal E13 to ground.
  3. For UB3, measure the voltage from the information center connector terminal 4 to ground.

Does the measured voltage equal the specified value for approximately 1 minute after you turn the ignition switch to the RUN position?

10-15 V

Inspect CKT 234 (YEL) for an open or short to ground.
