Front Floor Console Compartment Replacement Pontiac

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the console assembly. Refer to Console Replacement .
  2. Remove the console vent outlets. Refer to Air Deflector Louver Replacement - Rear Console .

  3. Object Number: 468991  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the front floor console rear air valve linkage knob (2) from the linkage (1).

  5. Object Number: 468986  Size: SH
  6. Remove the upper fasteners (1) retaining the duct/bin assembly to the console.

  7. Object Number: 468987  Size: SH
  8. Remove the lower fasteners (1) retaining the duct/bin assembly to the console.
  9. Slide the duct/bin assembly out from the console.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the duct/bin assembly to the console.

  2. Object Number: 468987  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the lower duct/bin fasteners (1).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 1.9 N·m (17 lb in).

  5. Install the upper duct/bin fasteners (1).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 1.9 N·m (17 lb in).

  7. Connect the front floor console rear air valve linkage knob (2) to the linkage (1).
  8. Install the vent outlets to the console. Refer to Air Deflector Louver Replacement - Rear Console .
  9. Install the console assembly. Refer to Console Replacement .

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 482015  Size: SH
  1. Remove the fasteners (1) retaining the storage bin.

  2. Object Number: 482147  Size: SH
  3. Partially remove the storage bin.
  4. Disconnect the lamp switch electrical connector (1).
  5. Remove the lamp assembly (2) from the storage bin.
  6. Remove the storage bin.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 482147  Size: SH
  1. Partially install the storage bin.
  2. Install the lamp assembly (2) to the storage bin.
  3. Connect the lamp switch electrical connector (1).

  4. Object Number: 482015  Size: SH
  5. Align the storage bin to the console.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.   7. Install the storage bin fasteners (1).
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 1.3 N·m (11 lb in).
