Radio Speaker Amplifier Replacement Pontiac

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 440877  Size: SH

    Important: The amplifier is retained to the bracket by push-in type retainers. The amplifier and the amplifier bracket are serviced as an assembly.

  3. Remove the fasteners (3) that retain the amplifier mounting bracket to the instrument panel.
  4. Disconnect the amplifier electrical connector.
  5. Remove the amplifier/bracket assembly (2).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the amplifier/bracket assembly (2).
  2. Ensure that the wiring harness is routed through the clip (1) on the upper side of the bracket.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the fasteners (3) that retain the amplifier mounting bracket to the instrument panel.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  6. Connect the amplifier electrical connector (2).
  7. Install the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement .
