Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement Pontiac

Tools Required

J 38778 Door Trim Pad Clip Remover

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the rear door power window switch, if equipped. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Switch Replacement .
  2. Remove the regulator handle, if equipped. Refer to Door Window Regulator Handle Replacement .
  3. Remove the handle bezel. Refer to Door Handle Bezel Replacement .
  4. Remove the warning reflector. Refer to Rear Side Door Warning Reflector Replacement .
  5. Remove the trim panel screw (2) through the access hole located behind the warning reflector.
  6. Remove the screw (3) from the access hole in the arm-rest pull handle.
  7. Remove the trim panel (1) screw through the accessory switch plate opening.
  8. Using J 38778 and starting at the door bottom, disengage the door trim panel retainers.
  9. Lift up on the trim panel to disengage it from the inner belt molding.
  10. Remove the trim panel from the door.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the door trim panel to the inner belt molding.
  2. Press the door trim panel into place until the retainers are fully engaged.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the trim panel screw (1) through the switch plate opening.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

  6. Install the screw (3) through the access hole in the arm-rest pull handle.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

  8. Install the trim panel screw (2) through the access hole located behind the warning reflector.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

  10. Install the warning reflector. Refer to Rear Side Door Warning Reflector Replacement .
  11. Install the handle bezel. Refer to Door Handle Bezel Replacement .
  12. Install the regulator handle, if equipped. Refer to Door Window Regulator Handle Replacement .
  13. Install the power window switch, if equipped. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Switch Replacement .

Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement Oldsmobile

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the accessory switch plate from the door trim panel. Refer to Power Accessory Switch Panel Replacement .
  2. Remove the window regulator handle, if equipped. Refer to Door Window Regulator Handle Replacement .
  3. Using J 38778 and starting at the door bottom, disengage the retainers from the door trim panel.
  4. Lift up on the trim panel to disengage the panel from the inner belt molding.
  5. Remove the door trim panel (1).

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the trim panel on the inside belt molding and press down.
  2. Install the rear door trim panel (1) to the door. Press the panel into place until the retainers are fully seated.
  3. Install the regulator handle, if equipped. Refer to Door Window Regulator Handle Replacement .
  4. Install the accessory switch plate (1) to the door trim panel. Refer to Power Accessory Switch Panel Replacement .
