Rear License Plate Lamp Replacement SWB

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

1. Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
2. Open the rear compartment lid.



3. For access to the license plate light bulb, remove the rear compartment lid interior trim clip and position the trim aside.
4. Remove the license plate light bulb holder from the lamp body by rotating counterclockwise.



5. Insert a suitable tool under the licence plate lamp housing and release the locking tab (1) of the lamp.
6. Pry the lamp assembly from the rear compartment lid and pivot and lower the lamp assembly from the lid.

1. Install a new license plate lamp assembly to the rear compartment lid. Pivot the lamp into the cavity and snap into position. Listen for an audible click from the locking tab (1) to confirm fitting.
2. If necessary, install a new license plate light bulb into the license plate light bulb holder socket.

Important: Check the condition of license plate bulb base seal and replace if necessary. The tabs on the bulb base and mating cut-outs in the lamp assembly allow the bulb to seat correctly in the lamp housing.

3. Install the license plate light bulb holder to the lamp body in the rear compartment lid and rotate clockwise to secure.
4. Check all vehicle lights for correct operation.



5. Install the rear compartment lid interior trim and secure with clip.

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

6. Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
7. Close the rear compartment lid.

Rear License Plate Lamp Replacement LWB

Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.

1. Raise and support vehicle to suitable working height. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.



2. Using a suitable tool release the license plate lamp assembly retaining spring clip (1) and remove the assembly from the bumper.



3. Remove the license plate lamp bulb and bulb holder (1) by rotating the bulb holder counterclockwise.
4. Pull the license plate lamp bulb from the bulb holder.
5. Discard the licences plate lamp.

1. Install the license plate bulb and bulb holder (1) into the license plate lamp (2) and secure by rotating it clockwise.



2. Feed the license plate bulb assembly wiring harness up into its recess.
3. Install the license plate lamp assembly, listen for an audible click from the retaining spring clip (1) to confirm fitting.
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Test lights for correct operation.

Rear License Plate Lamp Replacement Sportwagon

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.




Important: Remove the rear license lamp assembly (1), from the liftgate centre applique (3) by pressing the locking tab (2) toward the lamp assembly.

2. Remove the rear license lamp assembly (1) from the liftgate centre applique (3).




Important: Remove the rear license lamp bulb holder (2) from the rear license lamp assembly (1) by rotating the rear license lamp bulb holder (2) counter clockwise.

3. Remove the rear license lamp bulb holder (2) from the rear license lamp assembly (1).
4. Remove the rear license lamp assembly (1) from the vehicle.
5. For removal of the license lamp bulb. Refer to License Lamp Bulb Replacement.

1. Position the rear license lamp assembly (1) to the vehicle.

Important: Install the rear license lamp bulb holder (2) to the rear license lamp assembly (1) by rotating the rear license lamp bulb holder (2) clockwise.

2. Install the rear license lamp bulb holder (2) to the rear license lamp assembly (1).




Important: Install the rear license lamp assembly (1) to the liftgate centre applique (3) by pushing the rear license lamp assembly (1) upwards into to the liftgate centre applique (3). Listen for an audible click from the locking tab (2) to confirm correct fitting.

3. Install the rear license lamp assembly (1) to the liftgate centre applique (3).
4. Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
