Removal Procedure
- Remove the trim panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
- Remove the water deflector. Refer to Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
- Remove the inside handle rods from the rear door inside handle. Refer to Rear Side Door Inside Handle Replacement .
- Disconnect the clip securing the outside handle rod to the rear door lock.
- Remove the screws from the rear door lock.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors from the lock.
- Remove the lock from the rear door with the inside handle rods attached to the lock through the access hole in the inner panel.
- Remove the inside handle rods from the lock.
Installation Procedure
- Install the inside handle rods to the lock.
- Install the lock in position through the access hole in the rear door inner panel.
- Connect the electrical connectors to the rear door lock.
- Install the lock screws to the rear door lock.
- Connect the clip securing the outside handle rod to the rear door lock.
- Install the handle rods to the inside door handle. Refer to Rear Side Door Inside Handle Replacement .
- Install the water deflector. Refer to Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
- Install the trim panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
- Inspect the door lock system for the proper operation.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the lock screws to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
