Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the evaporator core-auxiliary. Refer to Auxiliary Air Conditioning Evaporator Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 814589 Size: SH
  3. Remove the foam insulators (3) from the evaporator core-auxiliary lines.
  4. Remove the foam insulators from the thermal expansion valve-auxiliary (4).
  5. Using a back up wrench loosen the flare nuts from the thermal expansion valve-auxiliary.
  6. Remove the auxiliary thermal expansion valve sensing bulb and retaining clip from the evaporator core-auxiliary lines.
  7. Remove the thermal expansion valve-auxiliary from the evaporator core-auxiliary.
  8. Important: Cap or tape the open A/C refrigerant lines immediately.

  9. Remove and discard the O-ring seals from the evaporator core-auxiliary. Cap or tape the lines to prevent contamination of the evaporator core-auxiliary.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 814589 Size: SH
  1. Remove the cap or tape from the evaporator core-auxiliary lines.
  2. Install the new O-ring. Refer to O-Ring Replacement .
  3. Install the thermal expansion valve-auxiliary onto the evaporator core-auxiliary lines.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Using a back up wrench, install the flare nuts from the evaporator core-auxiliary lines to the thermal expansion valve-auxiliary.
  6. Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  7. Install the foam insulators to the evaporator core-auxiliary lines (3).
  8. Install the foam insulators to the thermal expansion valve-auxiliary (4).
  9. Install the evaporator core-auxiliary. Refer to Auxiliary Air Conditioning Evaporator Replacement .
