Power Steering Pump Replacement LD8

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 284266  Size: SH
  1. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement.
  2. Install a drain pan under the vehicle.
  3. Disconnect the power steering return hose from the power steering reservoir.

  4. Object Number: 284268  Size: SH
  5. Remove the power steering pressure hose from the power steering pump.

  6. Object Number: 284267  Size: SH
  7. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolt.

  8. Object Number: 105222  Size: SH
  9. Remove the power steering pump from the vehicle.
  10. Remove the power steering pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement.
  11. Remove the power steering reservoir. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement - Off Vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the power steering reservoir. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement - Off Vehicle.
  2. Install the power steering pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement.

  3. Object Number: 105222  Size: SH
  4. Install the power steering pump to the vehicle.
  5. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 284267  Size: SH
  6. Install the power steering pump mounting bolt.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pump mounting bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).


    Object Number: 284268  Size: SH
  8. Install the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pump.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pressure hose to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  10. Install the power steering return hose to the power steering reservoir.
  11. Remove the drain pan from under vehicle.
  12. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement.
  13. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.

Power Steering Pump Replacement L26

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  3. Install a drain pan under the vehicle.

  4. Object Number: 1739689  Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the power steering pressure hose banjo bolt (1), remove the 2 washers (2), and position the hose (3) aside.

  6. Object Number: 1740182  Size: SH
  7. Compress the clamp and disconnect the power steering return hose from the power steering pump .
  8. Disconnect the wiring harness from the power steering pump.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Remove the coolant recovery reservoir. Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement .

  11. Object Number: 464479  Size: SH
  12. Remove the power steering pump retaining bolts.
  13. Remove the power steering pump.
  14. Transfer the power steering pulley as needed. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 464479  Size: SH
  1. Install the power steering pump to the engine.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the power steering pump retaining bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pump retaining bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Install the coolant recovery reservoir. Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement .
  6. Raise the vehicle.
  7. Connect the wiring harness to the power steering pump.

  8. Object Number: 1740182  Size: SH
  9. Compress the clamp and connect the power steering return hose to the power steering pump.

  10. Object Number: 1739689  Size: SH
  11. Position the power steering pressure hose (3) to the power steering pump with the 2 NEW washers (2) and install the banjo bolt (1).
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pressure hose banjo bolt to 55 N·m (41 lb ft).

  13. Lower the vehicle.
  14. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  15. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  16. Inspect the power steering system for leaks.
