Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly from the vehicle. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  3. Separate the top bead of the tire from the wheel. Refer to Tire Dismounting and Mounting.

  4. Object Number: 1954569  Size: SH
  5. Remove the tire pressure indicator sensor (4).

Inspection Procedure

  1. Inspect the tire pressure indicator sensor for deformation, damage, or other concerns. If you are replacing the sensor, also replace the old grommet, washer, and nut.
  2. Note: Ensure there is no oil, water, or lubricant on any sensor components.

  3. Remove any tire sealant or foreign matter from the sensor components.
  4. Note: Ensure there is no oil, water, or lubricant around the rim hole.

  5. Remove any tire sealant or foreign matter from the wheel.

Disposal Procedure

    Note: The tire pressure indicator sensor has a lithium battery.

  1. Use a flat-blade tool in order to pry off the back cover.

  2. Object Number: 1954644  Size: SH
  3. Cut the 2 terminals (2,3) that connect the battery (1) to the base board. The battery and the base board are covered in silicone.
  4. Remove the battery.
  5. Dispose of the battery properly.

Installation Procedure

  1. Write down the identification number (1).
  2. If you are replacing the tire pressure indicator sensor, install a NEW grommet. Install the grommet to the tire pressure indicator sensor valve stem.
  3. Note: If the tire pressure indicator sensor is improperly installed, the sensor may not transmit signals while the vehicle is driven at high speed.

  4. Install the sensor to the valve stem hole in the wheel. Insert the sensor from the inside of the wheel toward the outside of the wheel. Ensure the printed surface (2) is visible.

  5. Object Number: 1954569  Size: SH
  6. If you are replacing the sensor, install a NEW washer (3). Install the washer to the sensor valve stem.
  7. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  8. If you are replacing the sensor, install a NEW nut (2). Install the nut to the sensor valve stem.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 4.0 N·m (35.4 lb in).

    Note: Do not apply any lubricant directly to the tire pressure indicator sensor.

  10. Mount the tire on the wheel. Refer to Tire Dismounting and Mounting.
  11. Verify the nut is tightened to the specification.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 4.0 N·m (35.4 lb in).

  13. Inspect the tire and wheel assembly for air leaks with soapy water. Repair any air leaks.
  14. Install the tire and wheel assembly to the vehicle. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  15. Lower the vehicle.
  16. Register the transmitter ID. Refer to Tire Pressure Sensor Learn.
  17. Initialize the system. Refer to Tire Pressure Monitor System Configuration.
