Rear Wiper/Washer System Description

The optional rear wiper/washer system includes the following components:

    • The wiper/washer switch
    • The rear washer pump
    • The rear wiper motor
    • The rear wiper relay 1
    • The rear wiper relay 2
    • The GAUGE fuse
    • The RR WIP fuse
    • The WASH fuse

Rear Wiper System Operation

When the ignition switch is in the ON or the START position and the rear wiper switch is activated, the switch mechanism locks the contacts of the wiper switch to the closed position. Battery voltage then applies through the following components:

    • The GAUGE fuse
    • The rear wiper relay 1
    • The rear wiper relay 2

Since the rear wiper motor is permanently grounded, the motor operates as long as the rear wiper switch contacts remain in the closed position. When the rear wiper switch is deactivated, the mechanism releases the contacts to the open position. The contacts release the rear wiper relay 1 and the rear wiper relay 2 provides voltage to the rear wiper motor until the wiper is in the park position.

Rear Washer System Description

The rear washer system includes the following components:

    • The washer solvent container which is shared with the front wiper/washer system
    • The rear washer pump which is attached to the washer solvent container
    • The rear washer hoses
    • The rear washer nozzle
    • The wiper/washer switch

The washer solvent container is mounted on the right fender, behind the right headlamp.

Rear Washer System Operation

When the rear washer switch is pressed, ground is provided to the rear washer pump through the wash switch contacts. The rear washer pump has ignition voltage applied through the WASH fuse when the ignition switch is in the ON or START positions and will operate as long as the washer switch is engaged.
