Go to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle

2

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With the scan tool, command the Security Indic output control On and Off.

Does the security indicator turn On and Off?

----

Go to Step 10

Go to Step 3

3

  1. Disconnect the transponder key amplifier and the security indicator light assembly connectors.
  2. Measure the resistance between the transponder key ECU assembly and the security indicator light assembly connector as follows:
  3. • ECU terminal 8 to indicator terminal 3 (w/o TVIP) or terminal 2 (w TVIP).
    • ECU terminal 8 to ground

Is the resistance measured less than or greater than the specified values?

ECU to indicator = less than 1 Ohm

ECU to ground = 10 Kohms or greater

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 4

4

Test the indicator input circuit for an open/high resistance or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Did you find and correct the condition?

--

Go to Step 10

--

5

Measure the resistance between the security indicator light assembly connector terminal 1 to body ground.

Is the resistance measured less than the specified values?

Less than 1 ohm

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 6

6

Test the indicator output circuit for an open/high resistance or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Did you find and correct the condition?

Less than 1 ohm

Go to Step 10

--

7

  1. Reconnect the transponder key amplifier and the security indicator light assembly connectors.
  2. Measure the voltage between the ECU terminal 8 and body ground.

Does the voltage read 10-14 volts when the security indicator comes ON and 0 volts when the security indicator goes OFF?

--

Go to Step 9

Go to Step 8

8

Replace the transponder key ECU assembly.

Did you complete the replacement?
