Circuit Description

This DTC identifies a malfunction within the sensing and diagnostic module (SDM).

DTC Descriptor

This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC:

DTC B1000 Internal SDM Failure

Conditions for Running the DTC

Ignition 1 voltage is within the normal operating voltage range.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

An internal SDM malfunction exists.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The SDM commands the AIR BAG indicator ON.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

The condition responsible for setting the DTC no longer exists and the scan tool Clear DTCs function is used.

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

Go to Step 2

Are other DTCs current in addition to B1000?

Go to applicable DTC. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle

Go to Step 3

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  3. Wait 90 seconds, then connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  4. Wait at least 2 seconds, then turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  5. Wait at least 60 seconds, then clear any stored DTCs.
  6. Turn OFF the ignition.
  7. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  8. Wait at least 60 seconds, then check for any DTCs.

Is the B1000 present?

Go to Step 4

Replace the sensing and diagnostic module (SDM). Refer to Inflatable Restraint Sensing and Diagnostic Module Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 5

  1. Reconnect all SIR components.
  2. Verify that all components, connectors, and connector position assurances (CPAs) are properly mounted.
  3. Use the scan tool in order to clear DTCs.
  4. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC as specified in the supporting text.

Does the DTC reset?

Go to Step 2

System OK
