Subject:Service VME - Updates to SI and the PI Numbering Process

Models:.

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom described in the PI.

SERVICE VME

At the end of June a change was made to SI to improve your ability to access information. SI will now be updated daily Monday through Friday instead of every two weeks. You may now access Preliminary information (PIs) without the use of a specific VIN. There have also been some minor changes to the PI numbering process.

PI00001 was formerly a PI viewable in SI.

AI00001 was formerly a PI that was not viewable in SI and must be accessed by calling TAC.

The new designations are listed by either P for Powertrain, T for Truck, or C for Car. PIs in the new format will appear as follows:

PIP3001 = A PI in SI pertaining to a Powertrain item

PIT3001 = A PI in SI pertaining to Trucks

PIC3001 = A PI in SI pertaining to Cars

AIP3001 = A PI not in SI pertaining to Powertrain

AIT3001 = A PI not in SI pertaining to Trucks

AIC3001 = A PI not in SI pertaining to Cars

*reminder that some issues pertain to Cars and Trucks and so there could be overlap.

Although not all PIs are accessible through SI, we want to stress that over 80% of all PIs being written are going into SI daily!

.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.
