REAR WHEEL HUB & BEARING ASSY. ATTACHING BOLT - INFO.

SUBJECT: REAR WHEEL HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY ATTACHING BOLT (TECHNICAL INFORMATION)

VEHICLCES AFFECTED: 1990-93 "U" VAN

APPLICATION:

1990-93 U-Vans

This bulletin serves to cancel and supersede torque specifications for the rear wheel hub and bearing assembly attaching bolts found in Section 3D of the 1990-93 U-Van Service Manuals. The bolts attach the rear hub and bearing assembly to the rear axle (four on each side).

There are actually two different types of attaching bolts used for this application - a hex head bolt (P/N 10221918) and a TORX head bolt (P/N 25519720). A different fastening torque must be applied for each bolt type.

* Hex head bolts require a fastening torque of 98 N.m (72 lb.ft.). * TORX head bolts require a fastening torque of 63 N.m (46 lb.ft.).

The 1990-93 Service Manual For Section 3D should be updated.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
