Headlamp Circuit Description

The right hand headlamp fuse supplies battery positive voltage from the IP fuse block to the right headlamp. The left hand headlamp is fed battery positive voltage from the DRL relay. The low beam and high beam circuits are joined together and provide the body control module (BCM) with a low and high beam input. The low beam and high beam circuits continue to the headlamp switch. The headlamp switch includes the dimmer switch and the flash-to-pass switch. When the headlamp switch is placed in the headlight ON position a path to ground is provided. Depending on the position of the high/low beam (dimmer) switch, either the low or high beam circuit now have power and ground.

When the headlamp dimmer switch handle is pulled toward the driver, the flash-to-pass switch closes grounding the high beam circuit. Both high beams will remain on until the driver releases the switch handle.

The ambient light sensor is a light sensitive transistor that varies its voltage signal to the body control module (BCM) in response to changes to the outside (ambient) light level.

Daytime Running Lamps Circuit Description

The LT HDLP fuse in the IP fuse block supplies battery positive voltage to the daytime running lamp (DRL) relay coil circuit. The DRL relay switch contacts are connected to the LH headlamp battery feed circuit. When the headlamp switch is placed in the OFF position, the BCM will either turn on or off the daytime running lamps, in response to the changing light conditions. The BCM energizes the DRL relay, closing the switch contacts and applying ground in place of the battery feed circuit for the LH headlamp. Battery positive voltage flows from the RT HDLP fuse through the RH headlamp and LH headlamp to ground. The headlamps illuminate at a lower intensity.

Fog Lamps Circuit Description

The IP fuse block supplies battery positive voltage to the fog lamp relay switch circuit. The FOG fuse in the IP fuse block supplies battery positive voltage to the fog lamp relay coil. When the fog lamp switch is pressed, the body control module (BCM) fog lamp on input is grounded. The BCM will then energizes the fog lamp relay control circuit. The current flow is now from the fog lamp relay switch to both front fog lamps and to ground.

Park, Marker Lights Circuit Description

The EXT LP fuse in the IP fuse block supplies battery positive voltage to the park lamp relay switch contacts. When the park lamps are turned on, current flow is from the park lamp switch to the respective park and marker lamps. The front hand park and marker lamps are grounded at G102. The rear park and marker lamps are grounded at G304. The license lamps are grounded at G304.

Turn Signal, Hazard Lamps Circuit Description

Both the TRN-BU and the STOP-HAZ fuses in the IP junction block supplies battery positive voltage to the flasher module, which is part of the hazard switch assembly. When the turn signal switch is placed in either the left or right position, current flow is from the flasher module's left or right hand output to the turn signal switch assembly. The flasher module then sends an on-off (flashing) voltage to either the left turn signals and their instrument cluster indicator, or the right turn signals and their instrument cluster indicator. The front turn signals are grounded at G102. The rear turn signals are grounded at G304.

When the hazard switch is pressed, the hazard switch contacts close and the flasher module is connected to the turn signal lamps. The turn signal/hazard flasher supplies battery positive voltage in an on-off flashing pattern to all the turn signal lamps. All the turn signal lamps and both turn indicators illuminate in the same flashing pattern.

Stop Lamp Circuit Description

The STOP HAZ fuse in the IP junction block supplies battery positive voltage to the normally open stop lamp switch. When the driver presses the brake pedal, the switch contacts close and battery positive voltage is supplied to the center mounted stop lamp (CHMSL) and both left and right stop lamp assemblies. The left stop lamp is grounded at G304 and the right stop lamp is grounded at G304.

Backup Lights Circuit Description

The TRN BU fuse in the IP fuse block supplies battery positive voltage to the park/neutral position switch. When the driver places the gear selector lever in the REVERSE position, the current flow is from the park/neutral position switch to the backup lamps. The backup lamps are grounded at G304.
