Tail Lamp Replacement Pontiac Sedan

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 591040  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the tail lamp wire harness sockets (2).
  2. Remove the tail lamp nuts (1).
  3. Remove the tail lamp (4).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 591040  Size: SH
  1. Install the tail lamp (4).
  2. Align the tail lamp to the deck lid applique.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the tail lamp nuts (1).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the tail lamps nuts to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  6. Connect the tail lamp wire harness sockets (2).

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the tail lamp wire harness socket (3).
  2. Twist the lamp socket to remove.
  3. Pull the bulb to remove from the socket.
  4. Remove the tail lamp nuts (2).
  5. Remove the tail lamp.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the tail lamp.
  2. Align the tail lamp to the deck lid applique.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.   4. Install the tail lamp nuts (2).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the tail lamps nuts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  6. Install the lamp socket.
  7. Connect the tail lamp wire harness socket (3).

Removal Procedure

  1. From inside the rear compartment, disconnect the electrical connector (1).
  2. Twist the socket to remove, pull bulb from socket.
  3. Remove the tail lamp nuts (2).

  4. Object Number: 629027  Size: SH
  5. Remove the tail lamp assembly.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure.   1. Install the tail lamp assembly.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the tail lamp nuts (2) to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  3. Connect the electrical connector (1).
  4. Push the bulb into the socket and install the socket.
