The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
A customer might comment that they experienced an unwanted trunk lid opening or a trunk lid that is difficult to latch properly. This condition could be caused by a improperly routed trunk lid release cable.
Recommendation/Instructions:
When properly routed, the trunk lid release cable should have a natural slow curve in it, as it makes it way to the trunk lid latch assembly. If the cable has a sharp (90 degree) entrance into the latch (due to misrouting) it may bind resulting in unwanted pressure on the trunk lid latch.
If cable replacement is necessary, make sure it is routed on the front side of the support bracket.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
