Circuit/System Description

The INTERIOR LIGHTS fuse supplies battery voltage to the body control module (BCM). The BCM applies battery voltage to the rear compartment lamp through the rear compartment lamp control circuit. The rear compartment lamp is provided ground permanently at G402. When the BCM receives a rear hatch open input, the BCM will activate the rear compartment lamp control circuit to provide battery voltage to the rear compartment lamp.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the BCM C1 harness connector. The rear compartment lamp should turn OFF.
  2. If the rear compartment lamp remains illuminated, repair the rear compartment lamp control circuit for a short to voltage.
  3. If all circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.
