SUBJECT: INFORMATION ON AUTOMATING KEY CODE RETRIEVAL

MODELS: 1995 AND PRIOR PONTIAC MODELS

EFFECTIVE AUGUST 22, IN AN EFFORT TO PROVIDE BETTER, MORE EFFICIENT SERVICE, PONTIAC IMPLEMENTED AN AUTOMATED KEY CODE RETRIEVAL SYSTEM FOR PONTIAC DEALERS. THIS NEW SYSTEM EXPANDED HOURS OF KEY CODE AVAILABILITY AND SHOULD IMPROVE RESPONSE TIME.

THE NEW SYSTEM MAY BE ACCESSED BY CALLING 1-800-433-6961 -- THE SAME NUMBER AS CURRENTLY BEING USED FOR THE GM TRACS 2000 SYSTEM BY YOUR PARTS DEPARTMENT. YOU WILL ENTER YOUR DEALERSHIP PASSWORD AND VIN. THIS INPUT WILL THEN BE VERIFIED ELECTRONICALLY, THE KEY CODE INFORMATION RETRIEVED AND SENT TO YOUR DEALERSHIP VIA FAX. (LISTED ARE SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS).

A LOG WILL BE MAINTAINED AND REVIEWED FOR SYSTEM USAGE BY INDIVIDUAL DEALERSHIPS. IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT YOU MAINTAIN SECURITY FOR THOSE ACCESSING THIS SYSTEM, USING YOUR DEALERSHIP PASSWORD.

AS WE MAKE THE TRANSITION TO THIS NEW SYSTEM, DEALER ASSISTANCE (1-800 447-2287) WILL BE AVAILABLE TO HELP YOUR PERSONNEL. KEY CODE INFORMATION FOR VEHICLES OLDER THAN 10 YEARS WILL ALSO BE AVAILABLE THROUGH DEALER ASSISTANCE.

WE ARE PROVIDING THIS NEW METHOD TO IMPROVE OUR SERVICE AND AVAILABILITY TO DEALERS.

PONTIAC KEY CODE INFORMATION RETRIEVAL SYSTEM

SYSTEM: GM TRACS 2000 (1-800-433-6961) EACH DEALERSHIP PARTS DEPARTMENT CURRENTLY HAS A PROCEDURES MANUAL FOR USING THE GM TRACS 2000. OUR KEY CODE RETRIEVAL IS AN ADDITION TO THAT SYSTEM.

AVAILABILITY OF DATA AS OF 12/94: 1986-1995 MODEL YEAR PONTIAC VEHICLES (REVOLVING 10 YRS.)

HOURS OF MONDAY - FRIDAY 6:00 AM - 12:00 PM EST OPERATION: SATURDAY 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM EST

PROCESS: USING A TOUCH-TONE PHONE, DIAL 1-800-433-6961.

SELECT "1" FOR DEALER NETWORK.

ENTER DEALER CODE AND DEALERSHIP PASSWORD (SAME AS USED FOR DAILY GM TRACS 2000).

SELECT "3" (KEY CODE) FROM MAIN MENU.

SYSTEM WILL VERIFY DEALER CODE, PASSWORD AND THAT A FAX NUMBER IS AVAILABLE. FOR CHANGES TO YOUR FAX NUMBER, YOUR ZONE OFFICE SHOULD BE NOTIFIED. (ZONE: ANY FAX NUMBER CHANGES, ADDITIONS OR DELETIONS SHOULD BE MADE TO GMDID.

IF ALL MATCHES, ENTER 17 DIGIT VIN. FOLLOWING IS THE ALPHANUMERIC CONVERSION CHART FOR PHONE PAD.

IF NO FAX NUMBER IS LISTED IN SYSTEM, CONTACT YOUR LOCAL ZONE OFFICE. YOU WILL NEED TO CALL THE DEALER ASSISTANCE CENTER (DAC) FOR THE CURRENT KEY CODE YOU ARE REQUESTING.

THE SYSTEM WILL REPEAT VIN FOR VERIFICATION. YOU HAVE TWO ATTEMPTS FOR INPUTTING THE CORRECT VIN.
