BATTERY DISCHARGE CAUSED BY SEAT TRACK MOUNTED SWITCH

Models Affected: 1990 LEMANS

A seat track mounted "desensitizer" switch is used on 1990 LeMans with the motorized passive restraint system. This switch is battery powered and operates only when the seat track adjustment lever is pulled up to adjust the seat position.

If the seat track adjustment lever is not locked into one of its positions, then there will be a small 350ma electrical drain that will eventually discharge the battery.

When receiving vehicles from the transport or on vehicles going into storage, check that the seat track lever is locked into position. This condition should not be a problem for customers since normal driving will ensure that the seat track is in a locked position.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
