Removal Procedure

  1. Place the drain pan under the power steering pump and the power steering gear.
  2. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Diagnosis .

  3. Object Number: 417974  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the power steering pressure hose from the pump.
  5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  6. Remove the power steering gear heat shield. Refer to Steering Gear Heat Shield Replacement .

  7. Object Number: 417973  Size: SH
  8. Remove the power steering gear hose clip.
  9. Disconnect the power steering pressure hose from the steering gear.
  10. Remove the power steering hose from the hose retainer.
  11. Remove the power steering pressure hose.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the power steering pressure hose.
  2. Install the power steering hose to the hose retainer.

  3. Object Number: 417974  Size: SH
  4. Install the power steering hose retainer to the power steering gear.
  5. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 417973  Size: SH
  6. Connect the power steering hose to the steering gear.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  8. Install the power steering gear hose clip.
  9. Install the power steering gear heat shield. Refer to Steering Gear Heat Shield Replacement .
  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Connect the power steering pressure hose to the pump.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  13. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Diagnosis in Engine Mechanical - 3.5L.
  14. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
