  1. Remove the oil filter bypass hole plug.

    2. Important: Do not remove the oil filter fitting unless replacement or repair is needed.

  2. Remove the oil filter fitting, if necessary.

    3. Important: Do not pry against the threads in oil filter bypass hole when removing the bypass valve.

  3. Remove the oil filter bypass valve, by prying out with a suitable tool.
