Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the rear wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  3. Remove the brake caliper and support the bake caliper. Do not disconnect the bake hose. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Replacement .
  4. Disconnect the park brake cable from the park brake actuator and the park brake cable bracket.

  6. Use a utility stand in order to support the lower control arm.
  7. Disconnect the height sensor link from the lower control arm as necessary.
  8. Disconnect the shock absorber from the lower control arm. Refer to Shock Absorber Replacement .

  10. Remove the upper control arm to knuckle nut and bolt.
  11. Use 2  utility stands in order to support the crossmember.
  12. Remove the crossmember to underbody bolts.
  13. Slowly lower the crossmember until there is enough clearance to remove the upper control arm.

  15. Remove the upper control arm to crossmember bolts and nuts.
  16. Remove the upper control arm.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the upper control arm.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the bolts and the nuts which secure the upper control arm to the crossmember.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 75 N·m (55 lb ft).

  5. Use 2 utility stands in order to raise the crossmember.
  6. Install the crossmember-to-underbody bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 130 N·m (96 lb ft).

  8. Install the upper control arm to the knuckle.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the nut which secures the upper control arm to 100 N·m (74 lb ft).

  10. Connect the shock absorber to the lower control arm. Refer to Shock Absorber Replacement .
  11. Connect the height sensor link to the lower control arm as necessary.
  12. Connect the park brake cable to the park brake actuator and the park brake cable bracket.
  13. Install the brake caliper. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Replacement .

  14. Object Number: 1715698  Size: SH

    Important: Maintain proper rear park brake cable routing and clearances. Verify the rear park brake cables have a minimum of 10 mm and a maximum of 12 mm of clearance to the wheel drive shafts (1). Maintain this clearance using retention straps or equivalent retention (2).

  15. Install the rear wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  16. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
