Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement .
  2. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  3. Position a drain pan under the vehicle in order to catch any draining power steering fluid.

  4. Object Number: 1831861  Size: SH
  5. Compress the clamp and disconnect the power steering pump inlet pipe/hose from the power steering reservoir.

  6. Object Number: 1831815  Size: SH
  7. Remove the power steering pump and gear inlet pipe/hoses routing clip nut at the generator.
  8. Separate the power steering pump inlet pipe/hose from the routing clip.

  9. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  10. Remove the right side engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement .

  12. Remove the power steering pump inlet pipe routing bolt from the engine block.

  13. Object Number: 1831719  Size: SH
  14. Compress the clamp (1) and disconnect the power steering inlet pipe/hose (2) from the cooler pipe (3).
  15. Remove the power steering pump inlet pipe/hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the power steering pump inlet pipe/hose to the vehicle.

  2. Object Number: 1831719  Size: SH
  3. Compress the clamp (1) and connect the power steering inlet pipe/hose (2) to the cooler pipe (3).
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1831886  Size: SH
  5. Install the power steering pump inlet pipe routing bolt from the engine block.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pump inlet pipe/hose routing bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  7. Remove the right side engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement .
  8. Lower the vehicle.

  9. Object Number: 1831815  Size: SH
  10. Position the power steering pump inlet pipe/hose to the routing clip and install the nut.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pipe/hose routing clip nut to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  12. Compress the clamp and connect the power steering pump inlet pipe/hose to the power steering reservoir.
  13. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
  14. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  15. Install the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement .
  16. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
