  1. Place the ignition switch in the ON position.
  2. Place the turn signal switch in the left position.
  3. Place the turn signal switch in the right position.

Do the vehicle turn signals operate properly?

Go to Step 3

  1. Connect the trailer connector to a trailer.
  2. Place the turn signal switch in the left position.
  3. Place the turn signal switch in the right position.
  4. Observe the trailer towing indicator.

Does the trailer towing indicator illuminate?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Do the trailer turn signals operate properly?

  1. Disconnect the turn signal hazard flasher.
  2. Connect a 3 amp fused jumper between battery positive voltage and the trailer towing indicator circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Does the trailer towing indicator illuminated?

Test for an open in the trailer towing indicator signal circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems?

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the instrument panel cluster. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the turn signal hazard lamp flasher. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the inoperative trailer turn signals.

Replace the turn signal hazard flasher module. Refer to Hazard and Turn Signal Flasher Replacement .

Important: Perform the set up procedure for the IP.

Replace the Instrument Cluster Panel (IPC). Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
