Did you review the Exterior Lighting System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Go to Step 2

Go to Symptoms - Lighting Systems

1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
2. Turn ON the interior lamps override switch in order to enable the interior courtesy lights.
3. Remove the IP compartment lamp bulb.
4. Probe the supply voltage circuit and the ground circuit of the IP compartment lamp bulb socket with a test lamp.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 3

1. Disconnect the IP compartment lamp connector.
2. Probe the supply voltage circuit of the IP compartment lamp connector with a test lamp that is connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 5

Using a test lamp, probe between the ground circuit and the supply voltage circuit of the IP compartment lamp connector.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 8

Go to Step 6

Repair the open or high resistance in the supply voltage circuit of the IP compartment lamp. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 9

Repair the open or high resistance in the ground circuit of the IP compartment lamp. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 9

Replace the IP compartment lamp bulb.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 9

Replace the IP compartment lamp assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Lamp Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 9

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
