Removal Procedure

Tools Required

J 37043 Park Brake Cable Release Tool

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  2. Object Number: 474301  Size: SH
  3. Loosen the park brake cable equalizer nut.

  4. Object Number: 339826  Size: SH
  5. Remove the park brake cable from the actuator lever.
  6. Use the J 37043 to remove the park brake cable from the park brake cable bracket.

  7. Object Number: 339834  Size: MH
  8. Remove the park brake cable bracket bolts (10).
  9. Remove the park brake cable bracket (9).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 339834  Size: MH
  1. Install the park brake cable bracket (9).
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the park brake cable bracket bolts (10).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the park brake cable bracket bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Install the park brake cable to the park brake cable bracket.
  6. Install the park brake cable to the actuator lever.
  7. Adjust the park brake cable. Refer to Park Brake Cable Service/Adjustment .
  8. Lower the vehicle.
