Verify that the rear defogger is operative.

Does the rear defogger operate normally?

Verify that both heated mirrors are operative.

Are both mirrors inoperative?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Turn the rear defogger on.
  3. Test the control circuit of the rear window defogger relay for an open or a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
  4. If a short to ground present replace the HEATED MIRROR Fuse after fixing a short to ground.

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Turn the rear defogger on.
  3. Test the inoperative mirror control circuit of the rear window defogger relay for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in the ground circuit of the LH and RH outside rearview mirrors. Refer to Wiring Repairs .

Test the ground circuit of the inoperative mirror for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace the inoperative mirror. Refer to Power Mirror Replacement .
