DEFINITION: The content theft deterrent system arm/disarm functions operate normal, but goes into alarm mode intermittently without an actual alarm input trigger.

Was the BCM diagnostic system check performed?

Inspect the sensitivity level of the shock sensor. Refer to Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) Circuit Description Circuit Operation.

Is the shock sensor sensitivity OK?

--

Go to Step 3

  1. Turn the IP dimmer switch off.
  2. Turn on the interior lights override switch enabling the interior lights.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  4. Close all the vehicle doors.
  5. While observing the interior courtesy lights, tap gently on the inside door trim panels, near the door latches.

Did the interior courtesy lights remain off?

  1. Disconnect the shock sensor electrical connector.
  2. Disconnect the BCM connector C2.
  3. Use a DMM in order to measure the resistance between the following components:
  4. • The BCM harness connector C2 terminal D14
    • Ground

Is the resistance within the specified range?

Infinite

Go to Step 7

Adjust the shock sensor sensitivity.

Is the repair complete?

The content theft deterrent system is malfunctioning due to a malfunction between the BCM and the driver's door lock ajar switch. Refer to Interior Lamps System Check

Repair a short to ground in CKT 1828.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Reinstall any removed connectors or components.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position for 6 seconds.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  5. Remove the BCM PRGRM fuse.
  6. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position. (The BCM flashes the fasten belts indicator and sounds the chime 4 times identifying the BCM type installed on the vehicle.)
  7. Within 1 second, turn the ignition switch from the ACC position, to the LOCK position, then back to the ACC position. (The BCM sounds any DTCs stored.)
