Disconnect the instrument cluster connector C1.

Does the DOOR AJAR message turn off?

Go to Step 4

Repair a short to ground in the signal circuit of the door ajar switch. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the IPC. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.

Important: Perform the set up procedure for the IP.

Did you complete the replacement and the set up procedure?

1. Close all vehicle doors.
2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
3. Observe the instrument cluster.

Does the IP display DOOR AJAR?
