Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 511633 Size: SH

    Caution: Allow the engine to cool before servicing the secondary air injection AIR system in order to reduce the chance of severe burns.

  1. Disconnect the AIR vacuum hose.

    2. Object Number: 541456 Size: SH
  2. Remove the AIR check valve crossover pipe, the clamps, and the bolt.

    3. Object Number: 529910 Size: SH
  3. Remove the AIR check valve nuts.

    4. Object Number: 511637 Size: SH
  4. Remove the AIR check valve front bracket and the bolt.

    5. Object Number: 541458 Size: SH
  5. Remove the AIR check valve pipe adapters.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 541458 Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the AIR check valve pipe adapters.

    2. Tighten
    Tighten the AIR Check Valve pipe adapters to 30N·m (22 lb ft).

  2. Install the AIR check valve front bracket, the bolt, and the nut.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt and the nut to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  3. Install the AIR check valve.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the AIR check valve to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  4. Install the AIR check valve nut.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Install the AIR check valve crossover pipe, the clamps, and the bolt.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  6. Install the AIR vacuum hose.
