DEFINITION: The roof rail reading lamps stay illuminated when all of the following conditions exist:

    • All of the doors are closed.
    • The instrument panel (IP) dimmer switch is off.
    • The roof rail reading lamp switches are off.
    • The interior lamps override switch is on (the interior lights are enabled).
    • None of the interior lighting modes are activated.

The inadvertent load (battery rundown) protection turns off the roof rail reading lamps after 10 minutes. This action will occur after 3 minutes on vehicles with less than 24 accumulated km (15 miles).

  1. Close all of the doors.
  2. Turn off the IP dimmer switch.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  4. Turn on the interior lamps override switch (interior lights enabled).
  5. Cycle the switches for the windshield header courtesy/reading lamps between the ON position and the OFF position.

Do the windshield header courtesy/reading lamps turn OFF?

Replace the roof rail reading lamps assembly.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Reinstall the connectors/components previously removed.
  3. Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
